Enabling Limit Login Attempts

The “Limit Login Attempt” feature in the AIO Login plugin enhances the security of your WordPress site by limiting the number of login attempts from a single IP address. This helps to prevent brute force attacks and unauthorized access attempts by locking out IP addresses after a specified number of failed login attempts.

How to Limit Login Attempts:

Access the AIO Login Dashboard:

  • Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  • Navigate to the “AIO Login” option in the WordPress side menu.

Enable the Limit Login Attempt Feature:

Click on the “Login Protection” tab in the AIO Login dashboard and 

Then, the Limit Login Attempt sub-tab will be redirected to the settings. or 

Click on the Limit Login Attempt card on the AIO Login dashboard, which will also navigate you to the Limit Login Attempt settings.

Configure the Limit Login Attempt Settings

Enable the Feature:

Toggle the switch to enable the “Limit Login Attempt” feature.

Set Maximum Login Attempts:

In the “Maximum Attempts” field, enter the maximum number of login attempts allowed before an IP address is locked out. 

  • Default Maximum Attempts: If left blank, the maximum failed login attempts limit is set to 5 failed attempts.

Set Timeout Duration:

In the “Timeout” field, specify the amount of time (in minutes) that an IP address will be locked out after reaching the maximum login attempts. 

  • Default Timeout: If left blank, the timeout is set to 5 minutes.

Customize the Lockout Message:

In the “Message” field, enter the message that will be displayed to visitors who are locked out due to too many failed login attempts. You can use placeholders in your message.

  • Default message is “You have been blocked due to too many unsuccessful login attempts. Please try again in %d minutes.”
  • After configuring the above settings, click the “Save Changes” button. The new settings will be applied, and the limit login attempt feature will be active on your site.
